Three men appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on 3rd May 2019 for selling counterfeit goods at premises in and around the Strangeways area of Manchester known as Counterfeit Street.

OPERATION 1904-DH-18 HASAIN RAFIQ

Hasain RAFIQ of Oak Tree drive, Duckinfield, SK16 5ER pleaded guilty to four offences of selling counterfeit goods and possessing counterfeit goods for sale contrary to Section 92 of The Trademarks Act 1994. He was fined £280.00 and ordered to pay a £30 victims surcharge.

The case was brought by TM Eye as a private criminal prosecution on behalf of its client Hugo Boss. RAFIQ sold a wide variety of goods from other brands including ADIDAS, NIKE, GUCCI, ELLESSE, Michael Kors, UGG, NORTH FACE and many others. No other branded goods were subject to any enforcement action by TM Eye

RAFIQ ran his criminal enterprise from a ground floor shop in Sherborne Street, Manchester. From the premises he sold large quantities of fake goods from a wide variety of brands. Detectives from TM Eye’s Dedicated Undercover Unit carried out evidential test purchases on the 29th October 2018 and the 19th and 20th November 2018. Each purchase was covertly filmed and formed the evidence leading top the conviction.

OPERATION 1910-DH-18 HAMIDI LODIN

Hamidi LODIN pleaded not guilty and a trial was set for 31st July 2019, at Manchester Magistrates Court.

OPERATION 1914-DH-18 NASIR AHMAD

Nasir AHMAD failed to appear. The case has been adjourned to the 19th July 2019.
