Lucy FRANZ sold fake goods on Facebook

Lucy FRANZ of Ashvale Drive, Upminster, Essex, RM 14, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates Court on 22nd May 2019, charged with four offences of selling and possessing counterfeit goods for sale contrary to section 92 of The Trademarks Act 1994. She pleaded guilty to all matters. She was sentenced to a £200 fine and was ordered to pay prosecution costs of £500. She was also required to pay a £30 victims surcharge.

The case was brought by TM Eye as a private criminal prosecution on behalf of one of its well known luxury goods clients.

Franz sold fake goods on a FACEBOOK selling page ‘Things for sale to buy or swap in Hainault, Chigwell or surrounding areas’. Between 12th February 2019 and 28th February 2019 TM Eye’s Online Investions Team carried out three test purchases. On each occasion an undercover detective from the Dedicated Undercover Unit attended the home address and collecetd the fake goods. On each occasion the collections were covertly recorded. This evidence led to the prosecution and conviction.

Franz now has a conviction recorded on the Police national computer (PNC) and will have her DNA, fingerprints and photograph taken by police.
