Saqib HUSSAIN of London Road, Blackburn, BB1 7LZ appeared at Blackburn Magistrates Court on 29 January 2019, where he pleaded guilty to two offences of selling counterfeit goods contrary to section 92 of The Trademarks Act 1994. He pleaded guilty to all matters. HUSSAIN was sentenced to a £300.00 Fine and ordered to pay £300.00 Costs and a £30.00 Victim Surcharge.

The case was brought by TM Eye as a private criminal prosecution on behalf of MULBERRY and another one of its well known luxury goods clients.

HUSSAIN sold fake goods on Facebook selling pages ‘Zak Khan’ and ‘Jays Bags’. he sold a wide variety of counterfeit goods from numerous luxury goods brands. He took payment for the fake goods via PAYPAL.

The TM Eye Online Investigations Team undertook a series of test purchases from HUSSAIN over a period of 9 months. Detectives from the TM Eye Dedicated Undercover Unit supported by the surveillance team then carried out test purchases directly from HUSSAIN. These were covertly filmed and formed the evidence leading to his prosecution and conviction.
