Shambaz Ahmed sold fake goods in Counterfeit Street

Shambaz AHMED of Bowscale Close, Manchester, M13 0NF, appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on the 8 February 2019, charged with five offences of selling counterfeit goods contrary to Section 92 of The Trademarks act 1994. He pleaded guilty to all matters. AHMED was sentenced to a 12-Month Community Order with a requirement to undertake 80 Hours of Unpaid Work. He was ordered to pay costs of £800.

The case was brought by TM Eye as a private criminal prosecution on behalf of its clients MULBERRY, Hugo Boss and another well known luxury brand.

Shambaz AHMED operated from a large warehouse in Sherborne Street in the area known as ‘Counterfeit Street’, Manchester, selling a wide range of luxury branded goods. No action was taken in relation to other brands on sale.

Detectives from the TM Eye Dedicated Undercover Unit supported by the TM Eye surveillance team undertook a series of test purchases from SHAMBAZ at his premises in Sherborne Street on the 9, 10 and 19 May 2018. TM Eye detectives working closely in partnership with officers from Greater Manchester Police obtained his details leading to the prosecution and conviction.
